Several community service projects that the National Federation of Republican Women encourages are programs that SUPPORT THE TROOPS, promote LITERACY, and engage in CARING FOR AMERICA. Click on the links below for a great project that one of your members may be willing to undertake.
A major project of the NFRW Armed Services Committee is to donate money for the construction of an additional Fisher House at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, http://www.nfrwasc.org/fisher_house_project.htm Clubs can also chose to contribute to a specific Fisher House of their choice. Fisher Houses www.fisherhouse.org across the country and overseas are built to house the families of service men and women free of charge who have been severely wounded or ill and separated from their families during recuperation. For more information access www.nfrwasc.org, (step 1), scroll down to Articles, (step 2), after reading Articles, go to Forms, in the overhead, (step 3), then scroll down to Voucher for ASC, (step 4) to print the voucher form. The voucher provides information on how the funds are to be submitted to the Fisher House Project. This is an opportunity to give back to our wounded military who have given so much.
LITERACY
Since adopting this popular project in 2002, the NFRW and its clubs and members have given 143,711 dictionaries to school children. For more information on how your club can get involved, visit www.dictionaryproject.org.
