Local Activities
First City Republican Women's Club was honored to provide apple pies for the District 1 Republican Headquarters' grand opening on September 4. Representative Kyle Johansen and Senator Bert Stedman gave comments on why they are Republicans and how their prospective political races are going. They also encouraged the packed house to support other political races in Southeast and told us they will be actively supporting other campaigns as well.
Republican women have be very active in staffing the Headquarter's at 712 Water St., just north of the downtown tunnel. The location right across from the newest cruiseship dock gives us great exposure to visitors, who have been streaming into the office, eager to hear our views on Governor Palin. We have been very happy to tell them the McCain/Palin ticket has our vote!
We have also been designing and selling our own campaign buttons with slogans like "From Alaska with love, Sarah Palin" with big red lips gracing the center. Big red lips also adorn another button that reads "Lipstick Wearers for Sarah Palin" and another that reads "Alaska, where men are men and women run for vice president".
